DADO designs, builds and installs custom kitchens across Coquitlam, Port Moody and Port Coquitlam from our showroom in Kitsilano. The first conversation happens over photos and a rough sketch, the design work is done remotely, we measure in person before anything is built, and we install or your contractor does. A Tri-Cities kitchen runs the same planning ranges as one in Vancouver: from about $18,000 for a smaller kitchen to past $100,000 for a large high-end build, with most projects landing between $30,000 and $50,000.
Much of the Tri-Cities housing stock is a family house from the seventies, eighties or nineties on a lot larger than most in Vancouver proper, in areas like Ranch Park, Harbour Chines, Westwood Plateau, Mary Hill and Glenayre. The kitchen is usually a U or an L closed off from the family room, with a bulkhead above the uppers, an eight-foot ceiling, and original oak or melamine doors on particleboard boxes that have been through thirty years of dishwasher steam.
These kitchens have room to work with. The typical move is a full replacement with plywood boxes, uppers taken to the ceiling once the bulkhead is opened, drawer stacks instead of doors and shelves in the base cabinets, and a pantry tower where the old broom closet was. If the wall to the family room comes out, that is a contractor's job with a permit, and we sequence the cabinetry around it. Rift white oak or a painted shaker profile suits these houses. Walnut veneer if you want something warmer.
Houses on Burke Mountain and in the newer parts of Coquitlam came with a builder-grade kitchen: a big island, nine or ten foot ceilings, and doors and boxes chosen by the builder for price. Many owners replace them within a few years. The layout is often fine, so the question is whether to keep the boxes and replace the fronts and hardware, or replace everything. If the boxes are particleboard and the island has started to swell at the toe kick, replace everything. If they are sound, new painted slab MDF doors with integrated handles and new soft-close hardware change the whole kitchen at a fraction of the price of a new one. We quote refresh work per project after we look at what is there.
Port Moody's condo stock around Newport Village and Suter Brook, and the newer towers near the SkyTrain stations at Coquitlam Centre and Burquitlam, means a smaller kitchen with different constraints. Galley or single-wall layouts, a ceiling that may be lower over the kitchen, and a strata with rules on working hours, elevator booking and noise. Because DADO cabinets arrive pre-assembled, the install is short and the noisy part is over in a day or two. The design work is about storage: full-height pantry pull-outs, corner solutions, drawers under the cooktop, and a fridge that sits flush. A small condo kitchen at standard finish lands in the $18,000 to $28,000 range as a planning figure.
We do not have a showroom in Coquitlam. What we do have is a process that does not need one until you want to touch samples. Send photos and wall measurements, we talk on a call, and a DADO designer produces a layout and 3D renderings you review from home. When you want to see finishes and open a few drawers, you visit the showroom at 1737 West 3rd Ave in Vancouver, by appointment, roughly forty minutes from Coquitlam Centre outside rush hour. Before drawings are finalized, we measure your kitchen in person, because our fit depends on our numbers and not yours. Cabinetry is built on a standard lead time of about four weeks from approved drawings, and installation is by our team or your contractor.
Decide whether the layout stays or moves, because moving the sink or the range brings in a plumber, an electrician and often a permit from the City of Coquitlam, Port Moody or Port Coquitlam. Find out from your strata what the work-hour rules are if you are in a condo. Measure the room roughly, wall by wall, and take a photo from each corner. That is enough for us to give you a planning range and a first layout.
