Custom kitchens in Richmond

We design and build custom kitchens for Richmond from our Kitsilano showroom in Vancouver, a drive across the Oak Street or Arthur Laing bridge. Richmond homes tend to be newer and larger than the Vancouver average, often with more than one generation cooking in the same house, so the brief usually includes a second prep space or a wok kitchen alongside the main one. Most Richmond projects land in our $30,000 to $50,000 medium band, and the large multigenerational builds go past $100,000.

Richmond homes and what they ask of a kitchen

A lot of Richmond's housing is newer than Vancouver's west side, so the houses in Terra Nova, Broadmoor, Steveston, and along the Granville and Blundell corridors have big rooms, high ceilings, and kitchens that open onto family space. The constraint is rarely the wall length. It is how many people the kitchen has to serve at once, and how the cooking gets split between a show kitchen and a working one. Around Brighouse and along No. 3 Road the picture is different: condo kitchens with a fixed plumbing stack, a strata to work with, and a footprint where every centimetre has to earn its place.

Wok kitchens and second prep spaces

A wok kitchen is a separate, enclosed room with its own range, a strong exhaust, and often a second sink, so high-heat cooking happens away from the main kitchen and the main kitchen stays clean and quiet. We build the cabinetry for both. In the wok kitchen, function leads: durable laminate or painted slab MDF fronts that wipe down, plywood boxes, deep drawers on runner systems for pots, and tall storage for bulk dry goods. In the main kitchen the same boxes carry a finer front, rift white oak or walnut veneer, with integrated handles so the room reads as one clean surface. The range hood, the gas line, and the ducting are trade work by your contractor, and we coordinate the cabinet dates around them.

Kitchens for more than one generation

When parents, grandparents, and children share a house, the kitchen needs two zones that do not collide. A second sink on the island or a peninsula so two people can prep at once. Aisles wide enough to pass behind someone at the stove. Drawers rather than base doors, so the heavy pots live at hip height instead of on the floor of a cupboard. A pantry wall with pantry sliders, so the bulk shopping has somewhere to go. Where the ceiling allows it, a space tower puts dry goods within reach without a step stool. These are the things that make a big kitchen work for a full house, and they are decided at the design stage, not added on later.

Condo kitchens near Brighouse

In a Richmond condo the sink stays where the stack is, and the strata sets the rules on work hours and elevator booking. The design work goes into the run: drawers under the counter, a tall cabinet where a short one was, and fronts sized to the exact wall so there are no filler panels. Painted slab MDF in a light colour with integrated handles keeps a small room calm. Made-to-order sizing matters most here, because a run that fits the wall to the centimetre is the difference between storage that works and storage that almost does.

How we serve Richmond from Vancouver

The process is the one we run for every kitchen. You start with a free consultation at the Kitsilano showroom, where you can see and touch real fronts, finishes, and counters before you commit to anything, and we work up a full design with 3D renderings. We then measure your actual room in Richmond before anything is cut. Cabinets are built in about four weeks, which is our standard rather than a guarantee, and arrive pre-assembled. Installation is by our team or your own contractor. We do not have a Richmond showroom and do not need one. The bridge is a short trip.

What a Richmond kitchen tends to cost

A Richmond kitchen lands in the same range as the rest of our Metro Vancouver work: from about $18,000 for a smaller kitchen to past $100,000 for a large, fully custom build, with most projects between $30,000 and $50,000. A Brighouse condo often sits toward the lower end. A main kitchen plus a wok kitchen is two sets of cabinetry, so it sits higher, and a large multigenerational kitchen with an island, two sinks, and two finishes can reach the top of the band or past it. These are planning ranges, not quotes, and the real number is confirmed once we have measured your room.

If you want a rough number for your Richmond kitchen, the Vancouver Kitchen Cost Calculator takes size, finish tier, and appliance package and returns a band in a couple of minutes. To see how the same process works on the other side of the city, read custom kitchens on the North Shore. When you are ready, book a free consultation and we will look at your Richmond kitchen with you.
